Hey!

I've been meaning to make an update post for a while - I just haven't had the time to considering how busy this year has become. Fret not, there are good updates in this!

First things first: I'm on HRT! I don't talk about it much - but I AM a transgender man, I've been researching and shopping around for doctors and endocrinologists for a LONG, long time - and now I'm almost on a full month of hormones! Not much has changed yet, but I do feel much happier and hopeful for more positive change.

I also graduated college! But, my education isn't done yet - I'm immediately going to graduate school for my Master's degree in Creative Music Technology! I'm hoping to also try to get my foot in the door with something related to the music production industry - my idea is sample libraries or general educational content. Maybe some track breakdown videos!

This school year had a LOT of music being made - some I'm very proud of, some that are more or less just experiments. Thankfully, the majority are works I want to spruce up some more to post on here, I also know there are some tracks I've submitted to collabs that need a proper home on my page. It'll come in due time I'm sure! I definitely want to get the ball rolling again, I've missed posting and interacting on here.

Hey, it's definitely been a while.

I've been meaning to make an update/life post for a while, but this has probably been the busiest I've been for a while. Unfortunately, not necessarily busy in the creative department, mostly in the life/school department. I've been trying to spark back up my creativity in terms of music for a while, but I've been so exhausted and focused on other art mediums - primarily fiction. I've been writing a whole lot, that's mostly attributed to the creative writing class I've been taking. Keeping my focus evenly distributed has been a struggle of mine, but I know it's not particularly the end of the world - at least I keep reminding myself that.

I'm very involved in school - like, maybe too involved. This semester's been mostly about personal growth and realizing that I'm growing the hell up and I'm graduating in the spring/summer, it scares the shit out of me. I've become a bit of a workaholic because of it, trying to spend as much time with everyone I know as possible. Planning/volunteering events, graduation preparation, keeping my seasonal job, realizing I definitely need to go back to therapy - it's a lot. BUT, I think I'm alright. For the most part.

My activity on NG should kick up again in January I'm hoping. I'd like to participate in JAMuary again and interact with the people I've made friends with here, this website still means a ton to me. If I play my cards right, I should have some sort of audio project I can upload here - since I also have an EP to create for my recording arts class. There will definitely be something to show for all my work. Hell, I might even post my writing in some of the writing forums - if people are still active in those.

Hey! Just wanted to give a quick update regarding the permissions of certain songs I posted here - after thinking about it and discussing it with a couple of friends I've decided to let a limited amount of songs be available for external API use, which means they're allowed to be used in Geometry Dash! I also now just realized that an old PM I got from Tom that I was initially freaked out about meant that I was on the whitelist - another example of younger Lance being a little clueless.

I'M BACK FROM TOOMANYGAMES 2023!!

Everyone was making them, and I promised to myself I'd make one too once I had the energy after returning home, so here we are!

Initially, I was super nervous about attending the meetup, let alone speaking in the dedicated Discord server - I haven't been to a convention since I was still in high school, and that's way back when I thought I was an introvert. (But the reality was, I just haven't found the right crowd yet, now I consider myself incredibly extroverted and I love meeting new people!) The fact that everyone was so welcoming and excited to see each other really took some pressure off, everyone was just being their plain old selves. The past few days before the convention I prepped by making bracelets (yes, I am the bracelet guy, I will reply to everyone's thank you PMs soon!) - it's a way of showing appreciation for communities and people I hold dear to me. So I made 81 OF THEM AND GAVE THEM ALL WAY! I also got to talk to @Droid about music and what Jamuary2023 meant to both of us - it was a super exciting and refreshing conversation and I'm definitely inspired to make/upload more music! (I SWEAR Solstice II will be finished SOON! SOON!!) Meeting @MKMaffo was also very exciting! She's an amazing artist and getting to talk to her even for a little while is something super important to me!* (Updated because I wasn't sure how many people I wanted to mention in the initial post x_x)

I even got to give one to @TomFulp as shown in his own recap post!

Before I venture off to the other activities from TMG, I just wanted to thank @CorTat-G again for not only responding to my initial PM regarding the meetup and giving trinkets away but for organizing such an awesome event. This meetup was incredibly important to me and I'm sure plenty of others feel the same!

NOW ONTO EVERYTHING ELSE!

After the meetup I ventured off to get my Power Rangers VHS signed by Linkara and give him an AT4W-themed bracelet. History Of Power Rangers has been some of my favorite background noise material for a while now, and his live rendition of AT4W was fun! The best way to describe every panel I went to is to compare it to live concerts and how the singers sound the exact same as the studio recordings. Hope that makes sense to everyone who knows what I mean. Later Friday night I destroyed my knees and arms at the Screenwave Rave! Trey Frey and Creep-P were definitely my favorite sets - when Trey played Nanobii's Rainbow Road I got pretty emotional. I really hope that the event becomes part of the convention!

On Saturday I got to get signings and pictures with Caddicarus, Vinny Vinesauce (who I also gave a bracelet to Friday night - albeit on accident because I get clueless when I get excited. Thankfully it got all cleared up and I got super giddy when he thanked me for it and said how much he enjoyed the color scheme.), WoolieVS, and James Rolfe! I was also in cosplay for the first time in a while as Shingo Yabuki! More people thought I was Richter Belmont, which is understandable at a glance, but I was more than giddy to be greeted by Woolie as Shingo.

Now that I'm home I'm still trying to process the fact that I met so many of my childhood heroes and made so many new friends. I really, really, needed this weekend I think - I feel electrified and more than inspired to continue being myself. It really feels like I picked a good first year to attend the convention and I can't wait for next year's!

It's been a long time coming, but now that I've been out of school for the year I've had more time to focus on my music on my own time. I want to tend to my Bandcamp page a little more as well as my YouTube channel, considering this school year I was super booked with classwork and extracurriculars.

Hello hello, figured I'd make a quick little update about my plans for the rest of the month and then some, plus a little look into what I do outside of NG.

So I've been thinking Jamuary over now that I'm back on campus for the spring semester, and I'll be calling off keeping track of and making any more new entries. As much as I had a lot of fun with the event/challenge, I think this will be a good thing because I can put more work and polish into my stuff and focus on releasing an actual album. I'll also be taking some more time to learn more about Ableton in a performance context, which will mean more adventures in my TD-3.

Now for the life stuff, if you're into that!

My classes this semester are Songwriting, Digital Music Performance, Sound Scoring for Film and New Media, and Art as Therapy! The sound scoring class is actually at a graduate level, which is a little nerve-wracking but it'll benefit how I compose exponentially. The art therapy class is one I've been looking forward to since the winter break since I haven't been able to sit down and actually work on visual art in a hot minute. I'll most likely put some projects I'm particularly proud of in another blog entry. Overall, my goal for this semester is to be even more involved than I was previously - since the majority of my friends will be graduating. This means more grand-scale events for the club I'm the treasurer for (I personally call it "The Nerd Shit Club.") and coming out to support other clubs I've worked with in the past. The latter essentially means "get my ass beat in Smash Ultimate more often, then huddle back to my friend's REV 2 setup." (In case anyone was ever so curious, I main Terry Bogard. Fun!)

That's pretty much it! Before I end this, I'd also just like to give a quick thank you to all the support from both new and familiar followers after the release of Downhill To Infinity + Vernias's outro Hot Pink Cotton Candy! It's both incredibly frightening and exciting to think about being put on the map in one way or another, with the latter project resulting in feedback from people I know in real life.

Hey! This weekend I took a bit of a break from Jamuary to prevent burnout along with setting some time aside to spend time with family and get extra stuff done before I return to campus for the spring semester.

That being said, the songs I made this week are now on my Bandcamp page for whatever price you seem fit! Downloads will remain on each individual song for convenience, but your support is always appreciated! Each completed week will have its own respective EP release, so please stay tuned!

Oops, it's DECEMBER (oh my god that typo was embarrassing) 31st.

I suppose a lot of stuff happened this year on my Newgrounds account! I mean - way more uploads, being front-paged for SPEED OF LIGHT, having the opportunity to compose outro music for a good friend's Youtube channel...Not bad! I will say a lot more happened this year behind the scenes/outside of NG, but that goes without saying. For one I'm more involved with my college now that I have a leadership position (treasurer of the nerd shit club, basically), it's really fulfilling and keeps me productive. I also learned a lot of things this year, and I think it shows in the songs I uploaded. Overall, I'm really excited for what next year brings - but I'll only be excited an average amount, I can't go around saying 2023 will be MY YEAR because that usually means it won't be, lol.

On a way more exciting note, I'll be doing my best to participate in JAMUARY! I think this challenge will help me let loose a bit, plus it's another thing to keep me busy before I go back to campus (hopefully I'll also be able to balance the beginning of the next semester and the challenge).
